The exchange of opinions, discussion and debate are fundamental to Slow Food’s approach to the big issues impacting the environment, food and society. This was the background for Terra Madre’s Earth Workshops, the forerunners to the Water Workshops held at Slow Fish since 2005. Both the industry and the public strongly felt the need for opportunities for sharing and debating information and experiences about water, fishing, seafood and the marine environment.

Each lasting around two hours, the 23 events will provide a forum for debate and an opportunity to learn about the current situation and the future prospects of the sea, the fishing industry and seafood consumption. Fishing policy, hygiene and food safety, sport fishing and aquaculture are just some of the topics that will be tackled, while particular attention will be paid to good daily consumption practices, with advice on avoiding fish at risk of extinction and suggestions for alternative species.

The best-informed experts on the sea – researchers, biologists, veterinarians and journalists – as well as chefs specializing in fish will be speaking to the general public and professionals. The workshops are free and open to all Slow Fish visitors until all seats are filled. Reservations are not required. In the Water Workshops there will be simultaneous translation in Italian and English.

In the rooms on the mezzanine level of the Genoa Fiera’s Pavilion B.

From Friday to Monday, at 12 pm and 4 pm.
