The Music of Slow Fish

Just as Slow Food wants to promote food that is good, clean and fair, it also supports music as an authentic expression of a place and its culture. Musicians will be joining the Slow Fish program for the first time, after Terra Madre communities so successfully provided a soundtrack to their last meeting in 2008. The guiding theme will be the link with Liguria, a region rich in singer-songwriters and traditions. Trallelero groups, specializing in a refined and age-old style of polyphonic folk music, will be invited for the occasion.

Music will be performed at Slow Fish from Friday to Sunday, during three evening time slots. The first, at 7.30 pm, will bring to the stage Ligurian artists whose music plays with tradition and innovation. The second, at 8.30 pm, will feature Trallelero groups, and at 9 pm the evening will close with renowned performers from the Italian music scene.
The program’s artistic directors areAzio Citi and Raffaele Pinelli.

The Music of Slow Fish calendar will be online soon.

The Marine Bookstore

Promoting the culture of the sea, the Marine Bookstore offers the public a wide range of fiction, non-fiction and photographic books dedicated to the spirit of freedom the sea inspires, to the literature of great voyages, to the art and technique of sailing, to the beauty of seascapes and to the sea as a metaphor for life. The project offers a starting point for learning about and interpreting the sea from historical and cultural perspectives, and exploring not only its esthetics but also its ethics. Events are planned with authors whose work deals with different aspects of the marine world.

The Marine Bookstore has been created in collaboration with Biella Intraprendere which organizes the Turin International Book Fair.

Fish Auction

A traditional fish auction selling the day’s catch will be held once a day at the wharf in front of the entrance to Genoa Fiera’s Pavilion B.

Organized by Lega Pesca.

Scritti di cultura materiale e gusto mediterraneo (Choice cuts: writings on material culture and Mediterranean taste) by Giovanni Rebora, edited by Giovanni Assereto and Nicola Calleri (Slow Food Editore).
