Slow Fish wants its visitors to learn more about the sea and its people, beyond the rich program organized within Pavilion B. This year Slow Fish is venturing outside to experience the open sea on a boat, with excursions to discover and experience two of Liguria’s Marine Protected Areas and learn directly about pescaturismo, fishing tourism. The trips offer an invaluable opportunity to come closer to the marine ecosystem and its environmental issues.

Excursion to Portofino and Camogli

A direct experience in the open sea to visit Portofino and Camogli, the two picturesque places on the East Riviera, discovering the coast of Liguria from a wonderful prospective. The excursion will take about four hours. From Friday, April 17 to Monday, April 20 departing at 2 pm from the pier in front of Pavilion B of the Genoa Fairgrounds. For visitors to Slow Fish the cost is 15 Euro per person.

Dolphin-Watching

This is a half-day excursion following the trail of various marine mammals between Genoa and Portofino, in the heart of the Cetacean Sanctuary. We will follow behind the animals at a safe distance so as not to disturb them. You will be accompanied by a marine biologist of Acquario di Genova and WWF, who will reveal all the secrets of the animals you encounter along the way and also point out the goals and results of the Metropolitan Dolphin Project. Since 2001 this project has been studying the presence of dolphins along the coastline. There will be stop of about one hour at Portofino.

Saturday, April 18 departing at 1-30 pm from the pier in front of Pavilion Be at the Genoa Fairgrounds. For visitors to Slow Fish the cost is 30 Euro per person.

Tour of Bergeggi Marine Protected Area

This trip in the company of fishermen and experts will take participants along the Ligurian coast to the Marine Protected Area of Bergeggi, near Savona. The recently established area was set up to protect and promote coastal marine ecology through environmental education projects, scientific study and research programs and the promotion of local sustainable development, with a particular focus on adding value to traditional activities, local cultures and eco-friendly tourism. As well as seeing this beautiful part of Liguria from the water, don't miss the corner where you can get snacks that are made locally.

The trip takes place Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th.
Departure time is 11.30 from the pier at the Genoa Fairgrounds.
The estimated return time is 5 pm.
The cost for Slow Food members is 25 €, non-members 30 €.

Fishing Tourism

For an authentic experience of the sea, pescaturismo (fishing tourism) provides the perfect opportunity. The tour will take place on motorized fishing boats, accompanied by professional fishermen who have spent their life on the sea. Providing a direct understanding of fishing and a sampling of a culture rich in traditions, the tour also offers a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline and beaches. A meal on board is included.

There will be two daily outings programmed during Slow Fish:
from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm.
The cost per person is €50.
