Enoteca Slow Fish

Why
Wine is full of symbolism, a product closely linked to its land of origin around which an interesting economy has developed in recent years. Slow Food has long had a close relationship with wine, from books (Il piacere del vino, Guida al vino quotidiano and Italian Wines are just a few of its publications) to events, and the promotion of the C@ntine project, which presents the wines of member producers. Whatever the context, Slow Food seeks to highlight the work and skill of vignerons and the places where wine is produced, seeking to convey the knowledge required to appreciate and understand wine.

The Enoteca always plays a central role in Slow Food’s events as an important showcase for the viticulture it wants to encourage, with native grape varieties, everyday wines, new labels, lesser-known and smaller wine-producing areas and emerging names, as well as established wineries, award-winning bottles, famous varieties and the denominations that have shaped the history of Italian wine.

What
The Enoteca at Slow Fish has been given a makeover for 2009, with wine returning to take a central role as the sole focus of the space.
In fact, there will be two enotecas. The first, on the upper level, will offer the flagship wines of selected producers. Here, in collaboration with Pollenzo’s Banca del Vino, an area will be set aside for events to bring together winemakers and consumers (or rather co-producers, as Slow Food calls them in recognition of their important active role), a space for discussion and debate on topical issues facing the world of wine, with the participation of wine professionals from around the world The other enoteca, a more intimate space, can be found on the ground level, and will showcase everyday wines, offering specific examples of wines that are both of high quality and good value.

Who
Around 1,000 different wines will be available, including those featured in the Vini d’Italia 2009 wine guide produced by Slow Food and Gambero Rosso and the Guida al vino quotidiano guide to everyday wine. The spotlight will also be on the C@ntine project, an affirmation of the close relationship between Slow Food and top Italian winemakers
A list of the wines available will be distributed at Slow Fish.

Where
The first Enoteca is on the upper level of the Genoa Fiera’s Pavilion B, while the everyday wine Enoteca is on the ground level, next to the Street Food area.

When
The Enoteca is open when Slow Fish is open: on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm and on Monday from 11 am to 8 pm.

The Enoteca has been produced in collaboration with: La Banca del Vino
