Giving the public a chance to meet representatives from the world of food and wine who have dedicated their lives to the search for good, clean and fair has always been one of the key elements in Slow Food’s educational strategy.

This approach led to the creation of the Meet the Maker events at which producers had a chance to tell their story in their own voice, as the audience sampled some of their typical products.

The last Salone del Gusto also saw the addition of Memory Workshops, in which the keepers of traditional wisdom passed on their knowledge to new generations. A new event will be launched at Slow Fish 2009, Meet the Fishermen, bringing the experiences of artisanal fisherfolk to the event’s visitors.
